How did you end up at Beyond Walls?
I’ve known Jamie and Julie for years—I actually used to coach them back in the day! I was also lucky enough to coach alongside Barry and lots of the Beyond Walls coaching team in the past. Last year I started training here with Barry, then earlier this year I jumped in to coach some Sunday classes with Jono and now I’m here almost every day.
What did your fitness life look like before CrossFit/HYROX?
Sport has always been a huge part of my life. Growing up, I played football for Fulham and competed as a middle-distance runner. I’ve always loved any excuse to get involved in sport!
What are your favourite sessions to coach?
I love coaching the Olympic lifting class with Julie on Thursday evenings. Co-coaching is so much fun, and I love that it’s two women leading the room and helping everyone get stronger.
I also love coaching gymnastics skills and seeing members get their first pull-up, handstand or another movement they’ve been working towards, it is so exciting!
What is something members might not know about you?
I have a cat called Malteser, and she’s so sweet and the best thing ever... even though I’m fairly sure she doesn’t actually like me. I get scratched a lot.
What is your advice for nervous newbies?
That they’re going to love it—and probably not for the reason they think. It’s not just the workouts, it’s the people that make this place special and the views!
What inspired you to coach?
Before coaching, I worked as a management consultant at PwC. Then I joined a CrossFit box as a member and absolutely loved it. The coaches were amazing, and I realised that for so many people it was the best hour of their day.
I wanted to be part of creating that for other people, so I did my CrossFit Level 1. A few months later, I was coaching full-time!
What does a good day at Beyond Walls look like?
Sunshine, chatting and loads of laughs, a great workout... and plenty of burpees!
