How did you end up at Beyond Walls?

I’ve been part of Beyond Walls since day one, starting out as a member. Once the gym was up and running, I asked Julie and Jamie if I could join the coaching team—and I was so happy when they said yes!

What did your fitness life look like before CrossFit/HYROX?

Growing up, I did a wide range of sports, including swimming, horse riding and rock climbing. While studying for a degree in science, I had little time for training, but in my final year, I moved to the UK and discovered CrossFit—which might be one of the reasons I ended up staying!

What are your favourite sessions to coach?

I enjoy coaching sessions that challenge members mentally or physically. Sometimes, all they need is a little encouragement to realise they can do it, and seeing that belief turn into a new PB or mastered skill makes me proud to be their coach.

What is something members might not know about you?

Away from coaching, I’m a scientist, so analysing data and solving problems are part of my everyday life. Coaching is not so different—there are just fewer lab coats and a lot more burpees.

What is your advice for nervous newbies?

Everyone was new once, and most of us remember feeling nervous before our first CrossFit session. Take it at your own pace, ask questions and don’t worry about getting everything right straight away.

What inspired you to coach?

CrossFit helped me through some difficult times, and coaching felt like a way to give back to the people and community who supported me. I also wanted to help others through their own challenges by giving them an hour to switch off, recharge and focus on themselves.

What does a good day at Beyond Walls look like?

As a coach, a good day is when people leave sweaty and smiling, knowing they gave it their all. As a member, it’s any day with deadlifts in the programme—especially when I can keep the boys on their toes.
