Beyond Walls

Everyone starts somewhere.

Some people arrive wanting to get stronger. Some want a routine they can stick to, a new challenge or an hour for themselves. These are a few of the people who make Beyond Walls, and what training here has meant to them.

Kelly

Finding a routine that sticks

In our 2026 member survey, Kelly said it was the first time in ages she had stuck at something for more than a couple of months. She valued the community, the coaches and the care taken to help her learn movements properly.

Fast forward a little and Kelly now has 11 months of Committed Club and the confidence to take part in two HYROX simulations. It all started with turning up that first day.

Will

Finding confidence, finding your people

When asked what he was proud of, Will described gaining confidence in talking to new people and finding something he loved doing.

There was a day when I wasn’t feeling sociable and booked Open Gym...but Coach Jono was about to do the workout and invited him to join in. That simple invitation made his day brighter; a small moment that stayed with him.

Angela

Making time for herself

Angela works hard, she's achieved several personal bests, but the achievement she highlights most? Consistency. Returning to work after maternity leave, juggling three children and working around her husband’s shifts had made finding time to train a challenge.

But classes had become a valued part of her week: 3 hours she sets aside for herself.

“Coming to classes is pretty much the only time in my week when I'm putting me first and I truly value that.”

Emma

From gym newcomer to her first HYROX

Emma was so nervous before her first HYROX mixed doubles, would she let herself down, would she let her partner down. But with the help and support of her partner and the coaches she did great and is now planning further races, including her first solo.

She credited the coaches’ knowledge and attention to movement with helping her develop, and said their classes made her want to keep coming back.

Elisabeth

Feeling at home

To Elisabeth, Beyond Walls has become a second home. She said she felt welcome immediately. While she has always enjoyed working out, being part of Beyond Walls has given her a community where she's getting fitter and stronger because it was fun.

Being part of Beyond Walls had helped the local area feel more like home, while her Norwegian identity remained an important part of who she was.

“It's made me feel even more like this area is my home. I love being part of a community.”
